suggestion

I would start with a song that had an easier 8th note beat such as bass on 1 and 3 and snare on 2 and 4, and not too fast, and not too many fills.  The Pretenders MY CITY WAS GONE is easy and fun to begin with.

Hey HannarhH, I get asked

Hey HannarhH,

I get asked this question a lot and I wish I'd started writing down suggestions years ago, I'd have a long list by now. Just in case you didn't realise there has already been a entry asked on this topic, you can view it by clicking here.

I'm afraid that my suggestions are going to show my age as I'm not currently up to date with ALL of the latest groups. Here goes...

Anything by Green Day in the last five to ten years is pretty good. Tre keeps the drumming simple but solid.

Most songs by Queen. Again, Roger usually just plays for the song and keeps it simple.

Coldplay keep things simple too although their music can be a little bit...well, you know.

The problem with this question is that I need to list you individual songs and I can't think of any of the top of my head. Can anyone else help?

Remember that you don't have to be able to copy exactly what's going on in the song when practising and learning. I used to just play along to songs whether I could play the drum beat or not. I'd have fun playing beats and fills that I COULD play and not really worry about what I couldn't. In time you'll get better and your ability to play along to songs more accurately improves.

Sorry I can't be of more help but remember to simply enjoy the journey. You'll get there!
