Difficulty LevelThis video is about a cool little three note linear lick played between the hands and the feet. This lesson builds upon the (Three Note Grouping – RLL) video.

The sticking is R L F and you can hear this idea being used by some of the worlds greatest drummers, most famously John Bonham and Steve Gadd.

I will be showing you ways this three note pattern can be used within drum fills as well as how to use it within linear style drum beats .This pattern is a great place to start if you’re thinking of venturing into the linear style of drumming.

This lick is also explained in this other Drums The Word drum lesson found here. The lesson talks about how the great John Bonham made this lick famous and gives many examples and drum kit variations to work with. The lesson is called the “Bonham Triplets”.
