This free drum lesson discusses the Herta hybrid drum rudiment in all it’s glory. This super cool sounding drum lick has a million uses and can be played in many styles of music. It lends itself really well to triplet based music due to it’s three note structure and has been used by many great drummers such as Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, Carter Beauford, Dave Grohl and many more.
In fact, because the Herta lick was used so much by Billy Cobham, this drum pattern is sometimes referred to as the Cobham rudiment!
This free drum lesson teaches you how to play the basic Herta pattern, how to orchestrate it and move it around the drums, how to apply the double bass drum and then finally how tit relates to potentially the GREATEST drum lick of all time – The Blush-Da!
