Difficulty LevelIn this free video drum lesson, I want to teach you how to play the drum solo that occurs at the end of “A Song For The Dead” by Queens Of The Stone Age, featuring the amazing Dave Grohl on drums.

The drum solo outro consists of groupings of triplets between the hands and the feet, heavily inspired by John Bonham no doubt. The orchestration is changed as the solo develops so that the right and left hand are moving to and from the snare drum and the two toms. Dave then ramps it up to sixteenth notes for the final part played at blistering speed!

I show you the basic pattern as well as how to play the whole solo…just make sure you’re warmed up first! πŸ™‚
