In this free drum lesson, I want to teach you the main drum beats and fills from the song “Dark Side” by Muse featuring Dominic Howard on drums.

The song starts with a simple but interesting drum beat where Dominic focuses the Hi-Hat on the “+” and “a” of each beat. This creates a cool upbeat drum beat thanks to the Hi-Hat pattern.

Throughout the song Dom also throws in a few signature drum fills that appear multiple times throughout the song. One features flams whilst the other includes thirty second notes. Both however focus on skipping the downbeat to create some quirky offbeat licks.
