Difficulty LevelIn this free video drum lesson, I want to show you how to play the opening drum beat from the song “Elephant” by Tame Impala, featuring the drumming of Jay Watson.

The drum beat is basically a shuffle, with the bass drum being played on all four beats of the bar. But with the use of odd time signatures, and a cool little hi-hat turn around, the snare drum back beat gets turned around also creating a very cool and quirky pattern.
