In this free drum lesson, I want to teach you the big drum fill from the beginning of the song “The Spirit Of Radio” by Rush with Neil Peart on drums.
The drum fill that occurs at 0:13 into the song features most of the classic Neil Peart licks…lots of hertas, loads of tom toms and intricate counting and band stabs.
The first three bars are the drum fill itself where we move up and around the snare and toms whilst hitting those all important band stabs. The last bar is the first bar of the Ride cymbal drum beat that Neil moves into.
