Difficulty LevelIn this free drum lesson, I want to teach you the intro drum solo/fills from the song “A Little Less Conversation” by Elvis Presley featuring Hal Blaine on drums.

I discovered that there actually THREE different cuts of this song recorded back in 1968…one for the movie “Live A Little, Love A Little”, one for the single version, and one version that I happened to find online.

The first two are definitely the most advanced featuring a cool grouping of three sixteenth notes moving across the bar, with thirty second note variations and various orchestration ideas thrown in for fun. The third version is a lot simpler and does not feature any thirty second notes.

All three are a lot of fun to play though and go to show the originality and imagination of one of the greatest studio drummers of our time; Hal Blaine!
