This video lesson shows you how to construct a basic shuffle drum beat and then how to place ghost notes within it. This type of groove has been used by some great drummers such as John Bonham, Jeff Porcaro, Steve Gadd, Bernard Purdie and many others.

I will show you how to play this shuffled hand pattern with three different bass drum variations. These three drum beats will help you get started with this pattern so that eventually you can improvise and come up with your own bass drum ideas.

This video builds upon the Intermediate and Beginner shuffle drum beats lessons. The written notation for each example will be appearing at the bottom of the screen and a close up of the bass drum pedal is also shown as I play the variations.
