In this free video drum lesson, I want to show you how to play the drum beat that occurs at around 0:25 into the song “Like I Love You” by Justin Timberlake, featuring the drumming of Pharrell Williams.

This loose and greasy drum groove has always interested me. It’s always cool to hear a song where the live drums are high in the mix and add so much to the song…makes ya proud to be a drummer! 🙂

The drum beat features a nice syncopated bass drum pattern, lots of ghost notes and even some crazy opening hi-hat parts as well. In the lesson I show you how to play the simplified version of the groove and then how you can build up the complexity to reach the actual drum beat.
