We all know that Dave Grohl is a legend amongst drummers, but it’s occasionally worth reminding ourselves of just why this is. The song Elephant by Them Crooked Vultures gives us a great example of Dave’s skill behind the drums. The song has some really cool grooves and fills and even moves from double time to half time throughout.
This free video drum lesson is going to take a look at the “dirty” half time tom-tom based groove that Grohl bursts out with at 1:05 into the song.
I’m also going to show you how to play one of my favourite drum fills from the song…the cool 32nd note lick that Grohl plays at 1:21.
