In this new series of free video drum lessons, I want to focus on some of my favourite drum licks, fills, grooves and patterns.

This video drum lesson is based on the popular five note sticking (RLRLL), with a single bass drum foot being added to the beginning of the pattern creating this basic six note lick – FRLRLL. This obviously works very well played through triplets.

As a way to extend and take this further, I also give you some ideas where you can combine this lick with various three note triplet conjunctions, and even using the double bass pedal to add a bit of spice.
