In this free drum lesson, I want to teach you the main parts from the song “The Day I Tried To Live” by Soundgarden featuring Matt Cameron on drums.
Well, what can I say about this belter of a classic. It has all the trademarks that make a great Soundgarden song with odd time signatures, great vocal and guitar performances, and of course Matt Cameron on drums.
Matt use the floor tom, hit-hat and bell of the ride cymbal to create sublime grooves whilst weaving through some odd time signatures. The drum fills are also tasty and punchy adding a sprinkle of magic to his performance.
