In this free video drum lesson, I want to teach you how to play the song “The American Dream Is Killing Me” by Green Day, featuring the drumming of Tre Cool.
Featuring a shuffled/swung feel, Tre treats us to some classic drumming. He seems to be most comfortable playing in this feel. Lots of crash cymbals, ghost notes and triplet tom drum fills are included, but it never strays away from making the parts musical. Despite it’s density, Tre’s drum parts always fit the song.
