In this free video drum lesson, Allan Varnfield is going to teach you how to play the opening 12 seconds of carnage from “Ka$cade” by Animals As Leaders, featuring the amazing drumming of Matt Garstka!
The pattern is in 4/4 throughout, but Matt cleverly plays a grouping of 5 sixteenth notes between the Snare and the double bass drum over the straight four beats. He also throws in some really cool drum fills as well based in groups of 6.
To save time in this lesson, the ghost notes on the chart (notes written in brackets) were ignored for simplicity.
