In this free drum lesson, I want to teach you the little drum solo/fill from the song “Shakin’ All Over” by Johnny Kidd & The Pirates featuring Clem Cattini on drums.
The drum solo in question occurs at 1:21 into the song and features Clem playing sixteenth notes over two bars whilst steadily pumping the bass drum on all four quarter notes.
Clem spices things up by playing a cool six note accent pattern with the hands that nicely resolves at the end of the second bar. This six note accent pattern has been used many times before, and in many many songs, and so is not only a lot of fun to play, but very useful as well!
