In this free drum lesson, I have the intro drum beat from “Caught Up” by Death From Above 1979, featuring the drumming of Sebastien Grainger.
After some flams played on the Snare Sebastien enters with a rather groovy little beat involving ghost notes, drags and some fancy bass drum work. Notice how Sebastien uses the open Hi-Hat to enter the drum beat and not a Crash cymbal. From then on, Sebastien uses the open Hi-Hat affect on beat 2 of every other bar.
The sequence below ends with a series of sixteenth notes and a double played on the Snare at the end with the sticking RL. This could be played with just the left hand if you wanted.
